The African Society of Human Genetics (AfSHG) is a forum for scientists interested in Human Genetics in Africa to meet, interact, network and collaborate. The Society’s aim is to equip the African scientific community and policymakers with the information and practical knowledge they need to contribute to the field of genetics research and to attract global attention to the efforts of African scientists.
This year’s meeting is a partnership between the AfSHG, the H3Africa Consortium and The National Society of Human Genetics, Egypt.
Program topics include: African genomic research; medical genetics and diagnostics; genomics, ethics and bio-banking research in an African setting; stem cells in medical genetics; cancer epidemiology in Africa; cancer genetics and genomics; genetics of rare disorders, measures applied for prevention of genetic disorders in Africa; neurogenetics and developmental disorders; translational genomics in Africa; common traits with a genetic susceptibility; hereditary disorders of the blood; and genetics of infectious diseases.
