The Canadian Institutes of Health Research - Institute of Genetics (CIHR-IG), in collaboration with the Canadian Gene Cure Foundation (CGCF), is pleased to sponsor the first joint Canadian Human Genetics Conference and Canadian Genetic Epidemiology and Statistical Genetics Meeting. This joint event will be held in the White Oak Conference Centre and Spa, offering outstanding facilities in the heart of Niagara Wine Country.
The conference builds on both the tradition of six Canadian Genetic Epidemiology and Statistical meetings and the success of four Canadian Human Genetics Conferences. This unique combination of expertise will promote scientific excellence and help with the development of collaborations both within - and between - the two areas of expertise.
Scientific Sessions will focus on:
Animal models;
Cancer genetics;
Computational tool;
Epigenetics;
Knowledge translation;
Microbiome in health and disease;
Neurocognitive genetics;
Rare variant methods.
With an anticipated attendance of over 200 participants - including researchers, clinicians, and trainees - this conference offers unique mentoring, networking and collaboration opportunities. The format of the conference aims to be as intimate as possible. Sessions tailored to each community are planned as parallel tracks in the morning, while afternoon plenary sessions of broader scope will bring communities together through to poster presentations in the evening. Registration: All persons wishing to participate in the conference must complete the registration form available on line at: epigen1.mcgill-cihr-ig.ca
Registration will close on March 16, 2012. As space is limited, registration will be on a first come, first served basis.
Registration Fees:
* Faculty members, Principal Investigators: $700 (Single)
* Post-doctoral fellows and students: $400 (Shared)
* Participants who do no require accommodation: $100 per day
Registration Fees include: accommodation (3 nights), meals and coffee breaks.
Please note: For shared accommodation, if you would like to request a specific roommate, please indicate the name of the person when registering under “preferred roommate”. Otherwise, registrants will be assigned a random roommate of the same sex.
The registration fee is non-refundable after March 16, 2012. Cancellations received by e-mail by March 16, 2012 will be refunded in full.
Travel: Only 90 minutes from Toronto, the White Oaks Conference Centre is located on 13 acres in the heart of Niagara Wine Country. The Centre feature exceptional fitness club and offers signature spa services. Abstract/Poster Guidelines:
Each meeting participant has the opportunity and is encouraged to present their poster during one of the two poster sessions.
Abstracts will be selected for oral presentation at each plenary session. The deadline for submission of abstracts for the consideration of oral presentations is Midnight, Day March 16, 2012.
1. Abstract content should be relevant to the meeting’s focus. The length of the abstract should not exceed 2200 characters. Abstracts must be submitted electronically in the participant’s profile by March 16, 2012.
2. Registrants will be notified by email of the Organizing Committee’s decision regarding abstract oral presentations no later than April 13, 2012.
3. The abstracts of all accepted registrants will be available online to all registered participants and included in the meeting’s Program and Abstract Book, unless you notify us to the contrary. Further detailed poster guidelines are available on the website.

L’Institut de génétique des Instituts de recherche en santé du Canada (IG-IRSC), en collaboration avec la Fondation canadienne Gène Cure (FCGC), est heureux de commanditer la première réunion regroupant la « Réunion annuelle canadienne sur l’épidémiologie et la génétique statistique » et la « Conférence canadienne annuelle sur la génétique humaine ». Cet évènement conjoint se tiendra du 29 avril au 2 mai 2012, au White Oaks Conference Centre en Ontario.
Cette conférence s’appuie sur une riche tradition issue de six « Réunion annuelle canadienne sur l’épidémiologie génétique et la génétique statistique » et de quatre « Conférence canadienne annuelle sur la génétique humaine ». Cette combinaison unique d’expertise stimulera l’excellence scientifique et catalysera le développement de partenariats, tant à l’intérieur des deux sphères d’expertise qu’entre celles-ci.

Plus de 200 chercheurs, cliniciens, stagiaires postdoctoraux et étudiants sont attendu à cette conférence qui offrira une opportunité unique de réseautage, de mentorat et de développement de collaborations. Le tout est organisé dans le but de fournir une ambiance le plus intime possible. Les matinées seront ainsi réservées aux sessions parallèles répondant aux intérêts spécifiques de chaque communauté. Les séances plénières de l’après midi aborderont quant-à-elles des thèmes permettant de rassembler les deux communautés jusqu’aux présentations d’affiches en soirée. Cette organisation permettra de maximiser les opportunités de réseautage et de socialisation. Résumés et directives sur les affiches :
Les participants sont encouragés à préparer une affiche pour présenter leurs travaux. Des résumés seront choisis en vue d’une présentation orale pour chaque séance plénière. La date limite pour soumettre un résumé éligible pour la sélection pour une présentation orale est le 16 mars 2012.
1. Le contenu du résumé doit être pertinent par rapport au thème de la réunion. Le résumé ne doit pas dépasser 2 200 caractères et doit être présenté sous forme électronique dans le profil du participant avant le 16 mars 2012.
2. Les participants seront avisés par courriel de la décision du comité organisateur concernant les présentations au plus tard le 13 avril 2009.
