We are seeking to appoint a research associate in statistical genetics to work in the Statistical Genetics Group led by Professor Heather Cordell at the Institute of Human Genetics at Newcastle University. You will have a PhD in Statistics/Statistical Genetics/Genetic Epidemiology or equivalent.
The post is a combined applied/methodological post. This project will focus on the development and implementation of statistical methodology for the detection and characterisation of genetic factors in complex disease. The statistical methodology developed will applied to complex genetic data sets that are currently being generated in the internationally recognised Institute of Human Genetics and by our collaborators beyond.
Preference will be given to candidates who already have some experience and/or training in the statistical methods used in genetic linkage and association studies. We are particularly keen to attract candidates who have research interests and experience in any of the following the areas: haplotype inference and estimation of haplotype effects, imputation, population genetics inference, analysis of family (pedigree) data, model selection approaches in genetic association studies, modelling of parent-of-origin (imprinting) effects.
