Genetic Epidemiology (external link) is a growth area that offers a number of exciting and rewarding career opportunities. Students interested in genetic epidemiology or a related discipline should consider a major in one or more sciences such as anthropology, bioinformatics, biochemistry, biological sciences, computer science, genetics, mathematics, molecular biology and statistics, for example. This would be followed with graduate and postgraduate training in genetic epidemiology or a related discipline such as epidemiology, human genetics or statistical genetics, for example.
