IGES supports a limited number of travel fellowships for attendance
at its annual meeting. The number to be awarded each year is decided by
the Board upon recommendation by the Treasurer. For 2005, we will award
up to 6 fellowships and the maximum award value will be USD $1000. Selection
is to be made by the Board after careful review of the Abstracts. These
competitive awards are based primarily on the applicant's own statement
of financial need, as well as upon the novelty, quality and significance
of the abstract submitted.
Eligibility criteria
are:
- Statement indicating lack
of financial support to attended IGES
- Supportive written statement
from an IGES member familiar with work & applicant
- Working on a topic deemed
to be "genetic epidemiology"
- Must join or already be
an IGES member (student memberships are available)
(Note:
eligibility for financial support does not require that the abstract
is accepted for a platform or poster presentation.)
Preferences will
be given to:
- PhD students and 4 years
post-doctoral fellows
- Persons who have not previously
attended the meeting
- Persons living in countries
other than that of the meeting location
Winners will receive
notification separate from abstract acceptance and scheduling information.
